MONA IN PARIS: The Genesis
Great stories rarely begin where they end. For the cinematic music video of Mona in Paris, the journey didn’t start on the historic, rain-slicked streets of France, nor did it begin in the grand halls of the Louvre. It began in the quiet of my own home, sparked by a late-night glance at the wall above my mantelpiece during the covid pandemic in 2020.
Hanging there, as it had for years, was a framed print of the Mona Lisa. In the stillness of that evening, as the melody for the track was just beginning to take shape in my mind, I found myself locked in her enigmatic gaze. I began to wonder about the woman trapped behind the glass. For centuries, she has sat perfectly still, observing humanity with that famous, knowing smile. But what if she was to become a victim of the most daring heist ever in art history? What if she was taken back to her own origin?
That whimsical question quickly evolved from a late-night thought into a full script, a flight across the channel, and a high-production shoot. Mona in Paris is a visual love letter to freedom, reinvention, and the art of breaking out of the frames life locks us into. Look closely at the video below, and you might just see the moment a living room daydream became a Parisian reality.
